We built a house with you during the Winter of '96-Spring '97. We approached you with some reservation because we were told that you were the best builder in town and this being our first venture we had a fixed budget. Soon after we met you a lot of our concerns seemed to be baseless. Not only do you work very well with clients but you also let them express their wishes and keep an open mind. At every step we were kept involved and could verify what kind of material went into the construction. You followed the specifications you furnished regarding the material to the letter, at the same time giving us helpful tips to our advantage. What is amazing is the personal interest you take in all your projects and the help you give your clients is far above and beyond of what is expected.
The lack of post-construction problems is a testament to the quality of materials and the dedicated workmanship of your team that goes into every project that you undertake. During and after the construction you and your staff, particularly Laura, have extended friendly and helpful service. Above all, what we get from you is top-quality work and honesty. Since our children are growing we are thinking of building another house and there is no way we will entrust our faith in any other builder other than "Cousin Custom Builders". Cousin Custom Builders worked with us on a challenging rehab project on a 100+ years old house while retaining the historical integrity. The Cousin crew meticulously removed all the original wood work from every window, re-squared each window and installed new Pella windows (at our request) true to the original design."Then the original woodwork was reinstalled without any question that it was ever removed." Cousin also worked intimately on a shell design in attempt to keep the historical theme, while updating the siding with a fiber cement board. Given the way the house has settled over the years, it represented a significant challenge requiring skill and patience. We highly recommend Cousin Custom Builders for their integrity and commitment to quality at a reasonable price.

John Deere transferred Sharon and I from Dubuque, Iowa to Waterloo in 2002. You can imagine the stress of a new job and a new city and trying to find a home. We looked at a lot of new and pre-existing homes but nothing triggered our interest. A co-worker told me about Waverly, Iowa and new homes that were available. We took a 20 minute trip from Cedar Falls to Centennial Oaks in Waverly to look at a new home on the market, our current residence. Not knowing anything about the credibilityof the contractor we asked around trying to get an insight. All of the feedback was positive about the character of Bob Cousin and his work. We took a gamble that this would be the best choice for relocation, and it was without doubt. The community welcomed us with open arms, the house is quality built throughout. After moviing into the home we also had Bob finish our basement and we could not have been any happier. Bob is a man of his word, he will work with you and provide all options necessary.
I have been given a new assignment and it has now required us to move once again. Let me say without reservation if we could relocate back to Waverly Bob would build us a house again without question.

The decision to add a 12x9 2nd bathroom after 40 years and open up the bottleneck entrance to a 14x8 area has proven to be a nice asset both for enjoyable living and added value to the home. The newly exposed aggregate sidewalk and steps around the west and north sides of the house has added eye appeal and many positive comments. Also, the laminate flooring throughout both areas added to the openness and easy up-keep which was kept in-mind throughout the project. From start to finish, all those involved were pleasant and helpful to work with making the project a good experience. Thank You!

In 1995 we decided to build a new home on Woodland Springs Rd. in Denver, Iowa. After we received 2 building bids we rewarded Cousin Custom Builders the job.
We have lived in our home for 10 years and we have been very happy that Bob and Dave helped us with many construction ideas. This was a first for us and we needed all the help we could get. Laura was also a great asset to the company and helped us with many great ideas and was a pleasure to work with.
Many of our friends have asked if we were pleased with Cousin Custom Builders and we have told them that we highly recommend them.

This coming January 15 it will be four years ago that we moved into our new home. We are so happy to have gone ahead with building while in we are each in our early 70's. Some friends questioned the wisdom of this adventure, but we were both retired from careers in education and we felt we had the ambition and energy to go ahead with the project.
We have received many wonderful compliments on our new home and the memories of building are filled with positive experiences of having Cousin Custom Builders built for us. Bob and his personnel were so friendly and good to work with, that we highly recommend his company. Laura is exceptional at leading the client though the many decisions there are during the home building process and we have everything good to say about what an asset she is.

Should we or shouldn't we build a new house? We had experienced "house-building" earlier in our lives and knew of problems that can accompany such a project. We decided to go forward and chose Bob Cousin to be our contractor.
We asked Bob to work as steady as possible on our job and not leave us (our house) and work elsewhere. He and his crew did as promised. (His team of workers are mannerly, courteous, and a pleasant asset to his business.)
We would do it all over again and we may someday. The day we moved into our new home was a thrilling time but we do miss the excitement of the project. Bob made it all worthwhile. His personality, quality of work and beautiful results are memories of a job well done! Thank you sincerely, Bob!

There were the normal bumps along the construction road, but Cousin Custom Builders worked through them all and the finished product was most satisfactory!
